U.S. COMMERCIAL SERVICE Casablanca STUDENT INTERNSHIP The U.S. Commercial Service, part of the Department of Commerce International Trade Administration, is the official trade promotion agency of the U.S. government. With offices in 80 countries, the Commercial Service provides trade promotion assistance to U.S. companies in order to increase export revenues and jobs. The Commercial Service provides advocacy on behalf of U.S. industry, helps identify Moroccan partners, and assists with questions regarding the U.S.-Morocco Free Trade Agreement, customs regulations, and other trade issues. As part of its efforts to bring additional U.S. companies into the Moroccan market, the Commercial Service is offering a volunteer student internship to develop marketing communications materials and media. INTERNSHIP DESCRIPTION The Commercial Service is offering an unpaid internship in the U.S. Consulate in Casablanca for a minimum of two and maximum of three months, for at least 20 hours a week. The selected intern, with the supervision of a Senior Commercial Specialist, will: 1) Develop marketing communications materials, including written brochures, email announcements and web content targeted to U.S. and Moroccan companies, and 2) Develop the CS 2011 trade events schedule and materials for Moroccan trade shows and conferences, and various industry trade shows in the U.S. CANDIDATES Applicants should be college/university or graduate students in their junior or senior year. They must be fluent in both English and French, have some exposure to commercial matters, preferably some business school experience, and have experience designing written media or websites. The selected applicant will learn first-hand how the Commercial Service reaches out to both U.S. and Moroccan firms and will learn about the U.S.-Moroccan Free Trade Agreement. This volunteer internship is an excellent opportunity for interns to develop commercial skills. Description
SUMMARY Provide administrative support to the manager of Hill International Morocco Manager. Duties include general clerical, receptionist and project based work. Candidate should projects a professional company image through in-person and phone interaction. PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES 1. Must be highly organized and able to work independently. 2. Take responsibility for all routine administrative chores. 3. Answer telephones and transfer to appropriate staff member. 4. Meet and greet clients and visitors. 5. Good writing and analytical skills are a requirement. 6. Create and modify documents using Microsoft Office. 7. Perform general clerical duties to include but not limited to: photocopying, faxing, mailing, and filing. 8. Maintain hard copy and electronic filing system. 9. Keep track of funds spent and produce monthly expense reports. 10. Arrange for the recording and maintenance of office equipment and even negotiate prices with office supply vendors. 11. Able to negotiate with car rental agents, hotels, caterer, etc... and finalize deals when required. 12. Sign for and distribute UPS/Fed Ex/Airborne packages. 13. Research, price, and purchase office supplies. 14. Coordinate and maintain records for staff vacation schedule, travel arrangements, office keys and other important facts. 15. Coordinate communication with other departments and other projects. 16. Able to communicate with clients or discuss problems with other staff members 17. Setup and coordinate meetings and conferences. 18. Maintain weekly schedules. 19. Ability to take minutes of meeting. 20. Support staff in assigned project based work. 21. Other duties as assigned. ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES 1. Provide office orientation for new employees. 2. Setup accommodation and entertainment arrangements for company visitors. 3. Coordinate events.
KNOWLEDGE AND SKILL REQUIREMENTS 1. Very good reading, writing, and arithmetic skills required. 2. Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel & Power Point), and telephone protocol. 3. Duties require professional verbal and written communication skills in Arabic, English and French, and the ability to type 40 wpm. This is normally acquired through four to five years of clerical experience.
